The UK Analytical Partnership is an alliance between key stakeholders across the analytical science sector who share a vision of making analysis in the UK world class to support industry and the research base.
A small team of advisors has been appointed to conduct a wide ranging consultation for the UKAP Innovation Network with the aim of identifying key areas where projects could be taken forward to encourage and advance innovation in analysis in the UK. This action follows a workshop held on the 13 June 2002 for the UKAP Steering Group to discuss issues facing UKAP and ways forward. It was decided this should include a broad review of market and technology trends and challenges through consultation with a diverse group of stakeholders, particularly industrialists.
Armed with this information, UKAP will foster and support the development of innovation project outlines, which will address these future needs of UK industry and the research community. We are also looking to identify champions and partners to come together to form a critical mass of appropriate expertise and to provide routes to exploitation and construct full proposals for submission to appropriate funding bodies.
Summary of objectives of the project
- To take a snapshot of visions of future markets and technologies where analysis is a critical element in delivering step change innovations.
- To consult with leading edge thinkers across a range of industries and technologies to identify and prioritise up to five major innovation challenges where advances in analysis would make a breakthrough.
- To construct a portfolio of up to five innovation project outlines and to recommend possible ways forward for each of the project outlines which would provide the basis foor r the second phase of the Innovation Project.
- To report and debate the findings with the UKAP Innovation Network and Steering Group and recommend ways forward.
