The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)recently announced the award of a Faraday Partnership in Smart Optics. The hub partners are the UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UKATC), Mullard Space Science Laboratory (a department of University College London) and Sira. It is essential that both industry and academic partners input to the requirements for development projects. To this end, the Partnership is holding a Technology Requirements Forum, the results of which will be reflected in the Announcement of Opportunities later this year. The Smart Optics Faraday Partnership will be holding a Technology Requirements Forum on 18th September at the Bloomsbury Theatre, University College London. Registration will be from 10.00am and the meeting will go on until 4.00pm (refreshments will be provided). The goal of the Forum will be to hear from the user community (scientific and industrial) on the needs for developments in Smart Optics. Contact Jon Holmes, Sira (tel 0208 8467 2636 or email Jon_Holmes@siraeo.co.uk) to register interest.
