Qi3 manages the Basic Technology Technology Champions team for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) on behalf of Research Councils UK (RCUK).
We are pleased to announce a second series of five meetings around technology themes where a science need or underpinning technology has been identified. The purpose of these TopCat meetings is to stimulate community interaction with the objective of receiving new proposals to the £100m Basic Technology Research Programme.
Environmental Monitoring – aquatic environments (6.9.05)
Due to exceptional demand, this is the third meeting on Environmental Monitoring, but is the first to concentrate specifically on aquatic environments. Areas of discussion may include sensor development, instrumentation for particulate size/sampling, water quality/pollution, imaging etc.
Molecular Labelling and Visualisation (27.9.05)
This meeting may attract those involved in the development of novel chemical labels, detector systems, bioinformatics, contrast agents and molecular modelling, and may also appeal to those who have an interest in the adaptation and application of these systems to further their research activities.
Autonomous Systems (3.10.05)
Autonomous Systems are advanced robotic techniques which enable systems to accomplish goals without human intervention. This meeting is aimed at those currently undertaking developments across this field and to those who have an interest in the adaptation and application of these systems to further their research activities.
Systems in Extreme Environments (18.10.05)
The objective of this meeting is to draw together those, who have interests in systems, instruments and sensors which are required to operate in extreme environments, such as space, subterranean and the deep ocean.
High Energy Technology (27.10.05)
This meeting will focus on novel accelerator and beam delivery approaches and technologies, with potential applications in basic research projects as well as in the medical and materials fields.
If you are interested in working in these areas please register your interest at http://www.qi3.co.uk/events.asp or contact David Rafe on Tel: +44 (0)1223 422407.
