Our staff and the Qi3 network have
a broad range of business experiences,
which may be provided in support
of a number of products and market
areas. We work in areas where our
technical backgrounds allow us to
understand the business in detail.
Here's a list of some of the technologies
with which we are familiar:
- Optics
- Displays
- Cryogenics
- Superconductivity
- Sensors/detectors
- Surface science and spectroscopy
- Analytical techniques
- Power systems
- Batteries
- Biotech (physical sensors)
We also have considerable experience
in managing multidisciplinary engineering
teams in new product development
projects.
The following paragraphs give some
indication of our technology strengths
and interests. For information on technologies
offered or desired by
our clients and an overview of our current
activities, please look in the Information section.
Optics
We have a longstanding interest in
the optics industry, and have undertaken
a number of sales and marketing
tasks in optical fabrication including
pioneer sales of a novel robotic
polishing system for aspheric optics
(Zeeko ).
We have numerous ongoing interests
in the optics industry.
Displays
We have worked for the past year
with CamFPD in
the development of the Wedge large
area flat panel display. This has
given us considerable exposure
to the displays industry.
Healthcare
Our particular expertise in this
area is the application of technologies
based upon physics, chemistry and
engineering to medical equipment
and research in the life sciences.
In the course of our work for the
public sector, we have gained considerable
experience and contacts in the
healthcare equipment market, government
and trade bodies.

Detectors
We have been involved in the development
and commercial management of detector
development activities for many
years. In the main, these have
been devices for the detection
of electromagnetic radiation at
all wavelengths:
- CCDs
- Cryogenic devices (STJ, TES,
HEB)
- Silicon strip detectors
- Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors
(MAPS)
- Hybrid pixels
- Scintillation counters
We have carried out numerous product-market
studies and sales and marketing activities
based upon novel detector technologies.
Recent work has concentrated in the
X-ray region of the spectrum.
Cryogenics and Superconductivity
We have extensive knowledge of cryogenic
cooling and have carried out studies
of the market for cryogen-free
cooling systems. In particular,
we have detailed knowledge of the
commercial scene in Japan, the
USA and Europe in the following
areas:
- Superconducting magnets (LTS
and HTS) for industrial, research
and large-scale applications
- Magnetic measurement systems
for materials characterisation
- Thin film superconductors, especially
SQUIDs and superconducting detectors
- Cryogen-free systems for research
and industry
- Analytical instruments employing
cryogenics and magnet
